Lilah's First Day of First Grade!!

FIRST GRADE!
We cannot believe how fast our baby girl is growing up!  Lilah was excited, but really nervous about her first day of school.  She doesn't know what to expect, but I'm sure she'll love this year!  Daddy stayed late this morning to watch Lilah get on the bus.

She is wearing her new "blazer".  It was a little chilly.
She looks nervous and scared.  I am saddened that her kindergarten year didn't provide her a love of school.  I think this year's teacher, Mrs. Clower, will provide that for Lilah.

At the bus stop

She is holding up "1" because it is her FIRST GRADE year!

Giving my baby a kiss.

There is that nervous look again.  She wasn't wanting to give me her bright smile.

The bus stop kids.  Next year it'll be missing the two in the middle!

Here comes the bus.  Mr. Cosby is her driver again.

Biking and Saving a Kitty

We decided it was time for Lilah to begin learning how to ride a bike without training wheels.    We initially were going to go to her school, but there were too many cars and went to the high school just down the block.  Lilah did an excellent job working with Daddy and then Mommy!  Wyatt went along for the ride on his trike.  After a little bit of practice, Lilah wanted her training wheels back on.  Once they were back on we went to the back of the school.  I heard what sounded like a bird making a meow sound, but then realized it WAS a cat.  I followed the sound to a dumpster and realized it was a baby cat mewing.  I climbed in and found the little thing in a box.  After tearing open the box, I grabbed her out and saw how tiny she was.  We took her to the Atlanta Humane Society close to us and were told they couldn't accept her but the one in downtown Atlanta would take her.  So, the kids and I took a trip downtown.  During the 40 minute drive Lilah played with the kitten and fed her some kitten food.  Once there, the lady behind the glass partition told me the chance of survival was really low because the kitten was so young and taken away from her mom.  My heart sank.  Lilah was holding kitty in the waiting room when a lad and her young daughter walked out.  They instantly fell in love with the kitty.  Since the kitty hadn't been put into the system I was able to just give the kitten to her new family without any cost or paperwork.  It turns out that the lady has nursed a new kitten by bottle feeding.  She had everything she needed!  It was fantastic.  Of course, I teared up knowing the kitty was going to a great home.  They've named the kitten after Lilah.  I exchanged information with Kitty Lilah's family and will keep in touch with them!  What an exciting day!
We believe the kitten was dumped while we were at the school - some people are just plain rotten to the core!

Practicing with Daddy

Daddy is showing Lilah how he can ride the bike.

Doing a great job, Li!!

"Hi, Mommy!"

Training wheels back on, it is time for a bike ride/walk...or so we think...

Isn't she precious?!  See how tiny?!
I was told she was no more than 3 weeks old.

Pool Time

Lilah starts school soon and what better way to close out the summer break than swimming in the pool?  It was too cold for me (recent rains really cooled it down), but the kids and Daddy enjoyed it for a few minutes!  Wyatt has really taken off with swimming with floaties!

Lilah's Soccer Tryouts/Placement Session

Lilah is registered for soccer this season and there was a placement session held in order to divide the girls up equally (number of girls per team and experience).  Lilah LOVES soccer and she did well.  I cannot wait to cheer her on from the sidelines!

She doesn't look too enthused, does she?
I can only assume she wasn't wanting to wait her turn to show off her skills and made that face.

Go Lilah GO!

She was number 4.  It helped the coaches know who is who among the MANY "8 and Under" girls that registered for soccer.

Wyatt and Daddy watching all the young ladies play soccer.

Gotta look good while playing soccer!  Fix that hair!

Eating and sipping on some milk...nothing else passes time better!

Kicking the ball to another girl - showing she can pass "down field" to another team mate.

Hustling to get some water.

Stealing Mommy's chair...

I've noticed she does things with her tongue sticking out.

Kicking a goal!

I won't know who her coach is, her team name, team colors, or anything for at least a week.  I can't wait!!  I'll keep you all posted.  Until then, GO TEAM LILAH!!!!!
